چکیده

Influence of Water Treatment Processes Statistical analyses were conducted with historical data from the South Central Connecticut Regional Water Authority (SCCRWA) to determine if parameters determined in the treatment plants were related in any way to coliform counts in the distribution system. The analysis indicated that sufficient chlorination for maintaining treatment effluent standards for coliforms is generally effective in suppressing distribution system coliforms

Investigation of Bacterial Regrowth and Residual Chlorine in Household Stored Water in Saveh- Iran

Background & Aims of the Study: Saveh city -located in the semi-arid area in Iran- has brackish water and it was forced to use reverse osmosis desalting systems.  Water is not distributed through the distribution network to homes so, people have to buy water from certain places and transfer water through household storage vessel. They have to buy more water and keep it at home for more than 1 w...

غلظت کربن آلی و پتانسیل تشکیل فرآورده‌های جانبی گندزدایی  در آب شرب  شبکه توزیع آب تهران در برخی مواقع سال

Background and Aim: Natural organic matter (NOMs), measured on the basis of organic carbon, produces disinfection by-products precursors (DBPs) during the chlorination process. Some DBPs are carcinogenic. NOMs are not completely removed by conventional water treatment. As a result, in addition to forming DBPs, they support bacterial regrowth in the water distribution systems and cause unpleasan...

In vitro Plant Regeneration of Helianthus Annuus (Hyb. Azargol) From Alginate-Encapsulated Shoot Tips for Short Term Storage, Germplasm Exchange and Distribution

The present study demonstrates the potential of nutrient-alginate encapsulation of shoot tips of sunflower, Helianthus annuus (hyb. Azargol) for synthetic seed technology, which could be useful in germplasm distribution and exchange. Shoot tips from in vitro shoot cultures derived from mature seed explants were encapsulated in 3% sodium alginate and 100 mM CaCl2. 2H...

Use of Artificial Neural Networks for Modelling Chlorine Residuals in Water Distribution Systems

Drinking water contaminated by microorganisms can be a major risk to public health. Disinfection is used to destroy microorganisms that are potentially dangerous to humans. In order to prevent bacterial regrowth, it is also desirable to maintain a disinfectant residual in the water distribution system. The most commonly used disinfectant is chlorine. If the dosing rate of chlorine is too low, t...

Suitability of Optical, Physical and Chemical Measurements for Detection of Changes in Bacterial Drinking Water Quality

In this study, different optical, physical and chemical measurements were tested for their capacity to detect changes in water quality. The tests included UV-absorbance at 254 nm, absorbance at 420 nm, turbidity, particle counting, temperature, pH, electric conductivity (EC), free chlorine concentration and ATP concentration measurements. Special emphasis was given to investigating the potentia...
